BETTER CULTURES THROUGH THE EIGHT PLAY PERSONALITIES

Playful Cultures Are Not Ping Pong Tables And Beer On Tap.

While these are nice to have, these are only perks and don’t equate to a playful culture. In many cases, they can create more issues when solving.

Not everyone gravitates towards these kind of play activities.

play at work

It Gets Worse When Organizations Mandate Fun In The Office.

Forced fun is anything but fun.

The kind where employees plaster on a smile when they don’t want to be there.

Where most of the activities don’t cater to them – only to those planning these kind of events.

They would rather be anywhere else in the world right now than this team-building activity.

Would you want to be sitting in a circle, eyes closed, as a leader describes you flying over the ocean into the “temple of the dolphin” (yes, this does actually happen)?

What Can Be Done Instead?

You don’t need to rely on forced fun or fancy perks to create better cultures.

You can instead create a culture that caters to the different types of fun and play that people enjoy. Where you give them the space to take part in fun at work that doesn’t come mandated by leadership. Where they have a say in what fun looks like at work.

What Happens When Organizations Create A More Playful Workplace Culture?

• Greater Engagement

• Greater Mental Health & Well-Being

• Higher Office Morale

• Better Communication

• Greater Innovation & Creativity

• Strengthen Team Bonds

• Reduced Turnover

• Better Psychological Safety

You Can Do This Through Integrating The Eight Play Personalities Into Your Workplace.

No need to create a culture of “work hard, play hard”.

With the Eight Play Personalities, we will show you how to create a workplace culture that other organizations will be jealous of. No foosball table required.

What are the Eight Play Personalities?

1. The Joker
2. The Kinesthete
3. The Explorer
4. The Competitor

5. The Director
6. The Collector
7. The Artist/Creator
8. The Storyteller

What Is Our Approach?

We will sit down with your team to take a look at where you’re at with what you offer for fun and play at your organization.

From there, we will go over the Eight Play Personalities. Where they come from, what they are, and how they work. You’ll learn at a personal level which play personalities you fall under (you can fall under multiple categories). We’ll also cover how to identify the play personalities in others.

With that understanding, we can now look at how to integrate the Eight Play Personalities in the workplace. You will learn about the common pitfalls that organizations can fall victim to. These include “forced fun” or only catering fun to 1-3 of the Eight Play Personalities.

We will identify which of the Eight Play Personalities your organization covers, and which ones you lack. We will work with you to come up with activities and possibilities to help cover the missing Play Personalities. Whether it’s something small will little to no budget, or a major overhaul.

Who Is This For?

• You’re an organization that offers all the fanciest and trendy perks. Yet, you’re still puzzled why people are leaving for greener pastures.

• You’re struggling with engagement in a remote or hybrid model of work. What do you do when most staff are not coming to the office?

• Your organization is in desperate need of a more playful atmosphere. You’re not sure if you’re working with humans or robots because people seem to all have sticks up their butt.

• You want something different for team building activities. If you hear the word “synergy” one more time, you will break down into tears.

• Your organization is one that makes use of dreaded “forced fun” activities. Where employees plaster on a smile and would rather be anywhere else in the world at that moment.

• You have a wide range of ages and generations in your workplace. Where the only thing they can agree on is the culture of your organization is lacking.

Past work has found a morning/afternoon session tends to work best. That said, we are flexible – we can look at a full-day experience or an ongoing setup.

If you’re looking for something more condensed such as a lunch and learn, check out our speaking services. One of our main talks is on the Eight Play Personalities

Playficient is based out of the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. If you’re in the Alberta area, we can look at doing an in-person session.

While it’s better to do these in-person, they can be done in a virtual setting. Depending on the distance, we much prefer to keep things simples and go with a remote approach.

Travel and extra fees are extra should you wish to do them in person.

Are you NFP? A School? A Social Enterprise? We can offer you a further discount to work with your budget.

From The Blog:

From the beginning of the session, Paul made everyone feel very comfortable about what was about to take place. Each activity was something I felt I could accomplish. Never once did I feel uncomfortable during an activity or that I was unable to be vulnerable with my partner(s). It felt empowering to open up in front of a group of strangers and feel heard. I now know that no matter who you are, where you work, or what you do; engagement through “play” can and should take place on a more frequent basis.

Paul grabbed the audience's attention from the very start. He lead them through a very engaging and highly interactive workshop. Everyone who attended took something away from the evening's event (including myself). With Playficient, Paul is addressing a need to further blend our social and work lives, and he's doing it in a fantastically creative way.

Paul facilitated a “Leadership Through Play” workshop for our international students at ILAC International College. He was very professional with his communication and approach to delivering the workshop. He paid close attention to how the workshop was developed so as to suit our unique needs. What Paul is doing with Playficient is so relevant for today’s demographics in the workplace. I would love to bring him back in to speak with our administrative team!

Paul Lopushinsky’s session at the Utah ATD chapter event on the Eight Play Personalities was an eye-opening experience that challenged the traditional approach to workplace culture. Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all perks, he demonstrated how understanding different play personalities can foster a more inclusive and engaging environment for all employees. His insights helped us recognize why many organizations unknowingly cater to only a fraction of their workforce’s play styles. This session provided practical strategies to create a workplace culture that feels genuinely fun and meaningful for everyone!

Paul’s session was great and super interactive! He was able to talk through how to stay mindful of work, but how to also include the FUN without being disengaged. We really enjoyed that he kept the group entertained and active throughout his presentation. It was very enjoyable and we hope to have him in the future!

From the beginning Paul made me feel comfortable. Each activity was something I felt I could accomplish. And contrary to putting me in a spotlight with no instructions, I had clear instructions and always at least one willing partner that ensured I didn’t fail. It was later that I learned that is a key element of improv – that you never let someone fail. That has really resonated with me as a leader. If I can remember that a team should be built and supported so everyone embodies this belief, it lays a different foundation.
